Loving Cup Opens TodayPhoto: Jared Schwartz/Hoodline
Frozen yogurt and rice pudding shop Loving Cup opens for business today at the corner of Octavia and Ivy. The new Hayes Valley spot marks the first expansion from the original shop in Russian Hill.
As we shared back in March, Loving Cup took over the space previously occupied by Taste Tea, which shuttered in January. First opened in 2008 by owner Liz Fielder, Loving Cup boasts a rice pudding home recipe that uses no chemicals or preservatives and comes in 18 flavors including  Cinnamon Rum Raisin, Nutella, Creamsicle and Green Tea.

At Loving Cup, the frozen yogurt is a three-step process. First, you choose between a non-fat vanilla or non-fat chocolate base. Then you add toppings like fresh fruit, cookie dough, gummy bears or graham crackers. Finally, a staff member blends your creation and hands it back to you to eat.

Along with 7 varieties of frozen yogurt pies, fresh cookies, and handmade cones, Loving Cup will also have non-dairy and vegan options.

Did Loving Cup make a bargain with Mother Nature so this heat wave could coincide with their opening day? Hard to say. But frozen anything sounds great right now.  Head down to their shop and check it out during our one week of summer. Hours are Monday to Thursday 11:30 to 10pm, Friday to Sunday 11am to 10:30pm.
