City's First Neighborhood Cooking Competition Debuts At Buyer's Best FriendPhoto: Natalie Maynor/Flickr
Get ready, amateur chefs: on Sunday, June 1 at Buyer's Best Friend (1740 Haight Street), you have a chance to enter a cook-off with your neighbors in what's being billed as the city's first neighborhood cooking competition: San Francisco Sweet & Savory.
From 7pm to 10 pm, judges from Alembic and Sparrow will be on site to judge contestants' entries. The event is for amateur chefs who've got a knack in the kitchen, but there's no kitchen on site, so you'll want to bring your blue-ribbon dish prepped and ready to serve. Winning entries will win prizes from Whole Foods, Maven and Ragazza, so start thinking hard about your entry if you're planning on throwing your toque into the ring.

Tickets to cook or to eat are available for $20 (to compete) or $10 (to watch and eat). Tickets are half-price for earlybirds who nab them before May 25th, so get yours now if you're so inclined.
