Slugs And Beer Tonight At The PageImages: NDDivis / Amy Farah Weiss
What do slugs and beer have to do with .. .well, anything?
First of all, slugs, like many of us, love beer. If you have a slug problem in your garden, try leaving out a little beer in the bottom of a glass, and bury it halfway into the soil. The next morning, your thirsty slugs will have chased their vice to the bottom of the can and drowned, making your garden a little less sluggish (without the use of pesticides).

If you're of the "down with slugs, up with community gardens" mentality, swing on by The Page, where from 5pm-8pm tonight (and every last Thursday of the month) they'll be donating 10% of their happy hour earnings to our local community garden.  And if you're feeling especially generous (or murderous), pour out your dregs into the communal leftover beer receptacle for future slug-killing in the garden.

You can get more details on the event here.

Interested in learning more about gardening and how to get involved with the New Liberation Community Garden? Visit their site and learn the latest in planting and community news. They're currently looking for a neighbor with composting knowledge and experience to become their "Compost Captain," and are also looking for neighbors to host healthy grilling and food preparation events in the garden.

And if you're a local business owner who wants to find a way to help keep the dino kale, mint, and veggies growing, contact Amy at info {at} NDDivis {dot} com.

Happy slug-hunting, folks.
