Three Years Of Ping Pong At DSFFacebook / American Tripps
Tomorrow night, head to DSF for the three-year anniversary party of Berlin-style ping pong.

What is Berlin-style ping pong, you ask?

For the uninitiated, the game involves dozens of competitors circling the table, paddles (and beers) in hand, dropping out one by one as mistakes are made, until there is a sole survivor. It gained traction in SF back in 2011 courtesy of Mission Mission's Allan Hough, who created the American Tripps brand that hosts the ping pong pop-ups.

Since 2011, American Tripps has thrown the pong nights at various venues throughout the Bay Area, including Rickshaw Stop, Folsom Street Foundry, Z Space, Dear Mom, Verdi Club, and The Uptown in Oakland. They even put on an event in Brooklyn last year.

Tomorrow night's third anniversary party will mark the 20th appearance of American Tripps at DSF, right here in the Lower Haight.

"Even though we were born in the Mission," Allan tells us, "we decided to celebrate this milestone at DSF, because it's the venue we've been with the longest, and because it's always a rager in the Lower Haight!"

For the big night, Allan will be on hand DJing, and there will also be skeeball and giveaways of American Tripps items. It's 21+, and as usual there's a $5 cover. The fun starts Friday night at 8pm at 520 Haight.
