Hydrant Blows, Creates Geyser On Linden And LagunaPhoto: Kassie P.
If you've been  paying attention to the statewide drought, you've probably been extra careful to avoid wasting water lately. Sadly, not so for a fire hydrant located on Linden and Laguna streets, which blew its top this afternoon, producing a dramatic 3-story geyser.
We'll let intrepid Instagrammer Drew Vergas show you what the scene looked like at about 1:45pm today:

Here's another look at the scene:

A fire department spokesperson tells us that the SFFD turned off the water and left the scene at 2:26pm. No word yet on what caused the incident, or how many gallons of cool, clean water were wasted.

If you've got a small child who loves splashing in puddles and you'd like to look on the bright side, please note that a giant pond has formed. Don't forget the galoshes.
