If you've been paying attention to the statewide drought, you've probably been extra careful to avoid wasting water lately. Sadly, not so for a fire hydrant located on Linden and Laguna streets, which blew its top this afternoon, producing a dramatic 3-story geyser.

A fire department spokesperson tells us that the SFFD turned off the water and left the scene at 2:26pm. No word yet on what caused the incident, or how many gallons of cool, clean water were wasted.
