Police Release Footage Of Person Of Interest In Higgins Homicide
Police have just released video footage of a person they are seeking in the murder of Bryan Higgins at Church and Duboce.

The footage, apparently taken from a car's dashboard camera, shows a man on Church Street wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. In a separate part of the video, a man is shown indoors wearing a red sweatshirt or jacket.

SFPD spokesman Albie Esparza tells us these two men are the same person.

Bryan Higgins, a 31-year-old Noe Street resident also known as Feather Lynn, was found unconscious around 7:30am on the morning of Sunday, August 10th at the intersection of Church and Duboce.  Police announced that they believed Higgins had been the victim of assault with a deadly weapon.

Higgins was taken off life support three days later, and police are now treating the case as a homicide. His friends and family are now raising money to cover the unexpected costs of his medical care and funeral.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the anonymous SFPD tip line at (415) 575-4444.

Update 11:55am: Several readers have asked us why it took 11 days for this footage to be made public. We posed the question to Esparza, and received the following response:

"We do not release video/photos of suspects until our investigators have exhausted all possible leads. It doesn't matter how long it takes. We have to work up a case as investigators to try and ID suspects. If we just release info right away to the media, a suspect could flee or hide making it hard to locate. If an investigator tries to ID a suspect, our chances are higher in apprehending. We release info after all leads have been exhausted."
