Take A Field Trip With NopaPhoto: Nopalize / Andrew Dinh
Are you a foodie? Do you aspire to be one? Either way, Seasons, brought to you by Nopa’s food media site Nopalize, might be right up your alley.

In case you aren’t familiar, Nopalize is the brainchild of Stephen Satterfield, a former manager at Nopa. Also sponsored by Nopalito, the site is “an industry backed food media movement sharing unprecedented access to growers, producers, and makers in the local food community both online and offline.”

A variety of content can be found on the site, from video shorts to extensive profiles of many of the local farms and vineyards Nopa uses to source its offerings. According to Satterfield, “Nopalize was created to bring people closer to their food. At NOPA, spoken or not, we view our role as educational and economic catalysts for sustainable food communities - and with Nopalize, and Seasons, we are able to deepen the connection between guests and growers.”

Well, tomorrow, August 20th, marks the kickoff of a new twist on giving folks an intimate look at the food they consume: They’re driving you right to it.

Seasons is a series of events, hosted by Nopalize, wherein customers are offered the opportunity to be whisked away to various local food and wine producers, for an exclusive look at the property and process by which their favorite meals come to be. It should also be noted that two of the events planned are multi-course meals at Nopa itself, complete with a champagne reception and olive oil tasting.

Both the excursions and the lunches (entitled Complete the Circle) have until now only been made available to Nopa employees and local purveyors.

This Wednesday's event will take participants to Devoto Orchards in Sebastopol, which has been family run for over 40 years. Once there, second generation farmer Jolie Devoto will lead an estate tour and offer a cellar tasting of Devoto's award-winning heirloom cider. The itinerary for the day is as follows:

  • 9am: Meet at Nopa (Buses will depart at 9:15am sharp)
  • 10:30am: Arrive at Devoto
  • 10:30-2:30pm: Tour and picnic lunch
  • 2:30pm: Buses depart from Devoto
  • 4:00pm: Anticipated return to Nopa
The event also includes Blue Bottle Coffee and pastries provided by Anna Lee, Nopa’s Pastry Chef, as well as a lunch prepared by Nopa Chef Laurence Jossel.

The entire shooting match is offered for $150. If you are interested, tickets are available for purchase here.  And for info on the upcoming lineup, including trips to Lagunitas Brewery, Point Reyes Creamery, and Riverdog Farm, check out Nopalize's event calendar.
