Talbot Café Reopens With New Menu, Sightglass CoffeePhoto: Andrew Dudley/Hoodline
Exactly one month ago, we reported that neighborhood spot Talbot Café had closed its doors for a menu revamp, spurred by a change of ownership. It was initially supposed to reopen a week after that, and as more time elapsed readers started to get antsy, perhaps fearing that the closure was more sinister in nature.
Fear not, Talbot fans: the cafe has indeed reopened with renewed energy and a fresh new food and drink selection. Among the changes that new owner Phuong Thanh has instituted are the addition of Sightglass Coffee, a perennial favorite 'round these parts, and ice cream sourced from Three Twins (enjoy them in combination with an affogato).

The menu includes a variety of bagels and croissants for breakfast, and a selection of soups, salads and sandwiches like a caprese, hero with salami and ham, and roast turkey.

There's also a mouth-watering Saturday brunch menu which includes dishes like the B.A.B.E. waffle sandwich (bacon, avocado, more bacon, and two benedictine eggs on a buttermilk waffle), sweet creamy polenta served with fruit compote or fresh fruit and a dollop of crème fraiche, and savory creamy polenta with roasted seasonal vegetables and poached eggs (pictured above).

And finally, there are also weekly specials available. Today's dish? Chick peas slowly simmered in ragu with mushrooms, tomato, and celery, served over rosemary rice and garnished with grated Parmesan and parsley.

Reader Michael F. tells us that the floor has been refinished, and that there are new tables and chairs inside, plus counter seating along one wall and new outdoor seating on the sidewalk.

If you're planning on stopping by and checking out the changes, hours are weekdays from 6:30am-6pm, and Saturday from 8:30am-3:30pm.
