Vandalism Watch: Two Broken Windows Appear On Haight's 1600 BlockPhoto: Amy Stephenson/Hoodline
Last week, two shop front windows were broken on the south side of Haight between Clayton and Cole Streets.
Both incidents happened on July 30th. Since then, we've been trying to find out more about what happened, but nobody seems to know exactly what went down.

CityOptix, at 1685 Haight, was one of the storefront affected. As we reported last week, they've already closed the Haight Street shop in favor of the sunnier shores of the Marina. One of the rumors we heard at the time was that crime in the Haight was affecting business there.

The second affected business was the Red Vic, which closed for a remodel in June. Instead of merely crushing the glass, whoever is responsible shattered the window completely, from rafters to sill. They've got some plywood covering it now.

Around the same time last week, Park Station police came around to refresh the No Trespassing signs you may have noticed in the doorways of businesses on the street, a measure designed in part to minimize overnight vandalism to retail properties.
