580 Hayes Going Dormant As Art Show, Kebab Shut Down TomorrowPhoto: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline
Two popular local destinations are packing up after this weekend as apartment construction looms at 580 Hayes.

The Hayes Valley Art Coalition has been running the second part of a big local art show in a vacant portion of the building over the last month. It's scheduled to close tomorrow, so stop by if you haven't and check out the works of more than 50 local artists. (But don't worry, more local art will debut on October 11th at the Rose Street Bohemian Block Party - more on that soon).

Also, Hayes & Kebab is holding a closing BBQ tomorrow from 4pm to 7pm. It'll be your last chance for a while at least, as the restaurant is busy looking for an interim location for the next year-plus. It hopes to reopen on Hayes Street by the Spring of 2016.

The reasons for these closures, of course, is the new five-story mixed-used building that's slated to begin construction soon. So get out there and enjoy one last peaceful weekend on the block while you still can.
