Grand Reopening Party At Goodwill This ThursdayPhoto: Amy Stephenson/Hoodline
The Great Goodwill Remodel Of 2014 is finally and at long last complete, which gives you three reasons to visit this week.
Firstly, this week marks your first chance to check out the new space. To get an idea of what's changed, the store's staff have got some striking before-and-after photos up on their website. Observe what the space looked like before (top) and after (bottom):

As you can observe, there's now a whole lot more space, and one can see across the room from end to end. They've also got a fancy new donation station just inside the door where the piles of assorted stuff used to be, and a checkout counter along the south wall by the windows.

The description on their blog is worth a read:

Now the interior design has caught up with the times with an industrial-chic makeover (on a Goodwill budget). Gone is the threadbare carpet, revealing concrete floors. The interior superstructure has been stripped back to its functional beauty and given a splash of color reminiscent of a nearby bridge. The donation drop-off area is now more convenient than ever, and will soon debut a new digital donation touchscreen system allowing donors to record their donations electronically and receive their tax form via email. New dressing rooms, signage and counters complete the look.

The second reason to stop by? They're having a grand reopening party this Thursday at 11am to celebrate the remodel, as well as the store's 25th anniversary on the street. There will be discounts and Halloween candy on hand, plus a performance from the Goodwill band. They claim they're going to party like it's 1989, so don't forget your Aqua Net.

And lastly, when we went by this morning to check out the space, they were putting together their Halloween display. And everyone knows that Halloween is the best time to visit your local Goodwill.

Happy shopping, Goodwill-goers!
