Hayes Valley In The NewsPhoto: Rose Garrett/Hoodline
We've got a roll call of local media coverage of coming right up, but first thing's first: that sculpture headed to Patricia's Green? It's officially been fully installed (see above), so give it a gander and let us know what you think.

This week was rife with notable neighborhood mentions in the news. Let's get started, shall we?

Cory Lee's Monsieur Benjamin has been around just long enough to log its first high-profile reviews, with Chron critic Michael Bauer declaring it "honest and wonderful, a place that seems destined to have a long run." The food "feels authentic," the interior "contemporary" and the details "meticulously thought out."

SF Magazine's Josh Sens wasn't quite so impressed, though he enjoyed many of the dishes. The sticking point? The Twitter stockholder-level pricing, plus kitchen refinements that "verge at times on frou-frou." "We all come to bistros with different reference points," he reflects, "and Lee’s modern spin will no doubt please a lot of people in a city where French cooking doesn’t get much play these days. Whether it fully satisfies you will depend on how you hunger."

In other food news, Tasting Table offers a date night itinerary of Hayes Valley, including drinks at Absinthe, dinner and jazz at South, and yet more food (for the enormously hungry or wealthy?) at the aforementioned M. Benjamin.

Moving along to Hayes Valley boutiques in the news, the Chron put in a quick interview with Randy Brewer, co-owner of the newly opened Convert Man. Those complimentary whiskey tastings while you shop? According to Brewer, they've been "a huge hit."

Meanwhile, did you know that 8 Octavia just broke price records for Hayes Valley, with top-floor units selling for over $1,300 per square foot? It did indeed

On that note, get outside and enjoy the weekend!
