UPDATE 3:05PM: From David Perry of the Rainbow Honor Walk:

The "Oscar Wilde" plaque and the "Christine Jorgensen" plaque will be auctioned off: "Oscar" to benefit the Rainbow Honor Walk and its ongoing work; "Christine" to benefit the Transgender Law Center who has been, and is being, so helpful with regards to the recasting of the "Christine Jorgensen" plaque. Date: TBD.
As soon as the Rainbow Honor Walk team gets the corrected plaques in the ground, they will decide upon a date and venue for the auction. ----------------------------------- It looks like the Rainbow Honor Walk will be able to recoup some of the money it will cost to replace the plaques that had misspellings and grammatical errors. The Castro Bubble reported yesterday afternoon that the Rainbow Honor Walk would be auctioning off the err'd plaque dedicated to Oscar Wilde which referenced his "bitting" wit. In a photo that writer Armistead Maupin (Tales of the City) took of the plaque, Rainbow Honor Walk chair David Perry can be seen pointing to the plaque with a look of regret and "oops" on his face. The caption indicates, "The plaque will be replaced by the manufacturer and this one with be auctioned off to benefit the Honor Walk campaign."
