Last weekend, people partied hard at Folsom Street Fair-related events all around the city. If you're looking for something a little more low-energy and closer to home this weekend, or want a few good reasons to come into the Castro, we've got you covered.

Friday (tonight!)

7:30pm - Enjoy a double feature at the Castro Theatre with two films starring cult film actor Bruce Campbell. First, Bubba Ho-Tep with Campbell as a decrepit old Elvis Presley living out his last days in a Texas retirement home. Second, Evil Dead 2, in which Campbell's character discovers an old book that unleashes demons and walking corpses in a secluded cabin. The Castro Theatre calls it "essential and hilarious cult viewing."

Saturday

12pm - Could you use a new furry friend in your life? Swing by the corner of 18th and Castro, where Family Dog Rescue will be hosting one of its regular weekly dog adoption events. Family Dog specializes in finding homes for rescue dogs that do well with both kids and adults (thus the name "family dog"). Saturday's adoption event will run until 3pm.

Also, Saturday will see the grand re-opening of A.G. Ferrari at 468 Castro. As we reported a few days ago, all A.G. Ferrari shops in SF closed for renovations this month, and promise to reopen with a new look and a new menu. Celebrate the store's rebirth with free tastings of said new menu items this Saturday (time TBD).

3pm - Peaches Christ presents Hocus Pocus at the Castro Theatre, with RuPaul's Drag Race stars Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme. Watch Peaches, Jinkx, BenDeLa, and Peaches' merry troupe of local drag stars perform their stage-play "Coven: Return Of The Manderson Sisters," followed by a screening of the Disney film Hocus Pocus. You can buy tickets online at PeachesChrist.com.

8pm/dusk - San Francisco's Film Night in the Park presents its last feature for the 2014 season: American Hustle, which will be screened in Dolores Park. From IMDB, a con man and his seductive partner are forced to work for a wild FBI agent who pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia. Come to the park, bring a blanket and some friends, and enjoy the last movie in the park for 2014.

Sunday

2:30pm, 4:05pm, 5:40pm - Finally, return to the Castro Theatre for a triple feature with two films from mid-twentieth century filmmaker Samuel Fuller, and a final tribute film from his daughter.

So come to the Castro this weekend, sit your weary leather-chapped hide, enjoy some films and free samples, and let the world wash over you.
