Upper Haight Farmers Market Celebrates With A Harvest Festival TodayPhoto courtesy of PCFMA
Today is the second day of fall, and a band of damp weather is on the way accordingly. To celebrate the new season, the Upper Haight farmers market is hosting a special harvest festival. And guess what? It's today!
From 3pm to 7pm today in the parking lot at Waller and Stanyan, the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association's Upper Haight market, headed by Ashley Weidman, will have live music, pie eating, cooking demos and more. Most of the activities on offer will be of particular interest to children, so if you're looking for a family activity, stop by this afternoon and evening to get in on the action.

Here's what's planned for today's special market:

  • Cookin' the Market: seasonal produce, hot apple cider, and highlights of what's freshest this week
  • Pumpkin coloring and mural painting for kids
  • Also for the kids: face painting and balloon animals with Fortune Kookie
  • A pumpkin pitch game
  • Music from Ian Conway from 3-5pm, and Mountain Fire Band from 5-7pm
  • Free yoga with Got Kundalini yoga
  • A pie eating contest

And don't forget that there will also be a panoply of seasonal fruit and vegetables, including pumpkins, squashes, stone fruit, nuts, and gorgeous fluffy greens, so don't forget a tote bag or two.
