There's a lot going on in our fair 'hood later today, so grab a coffee and settle in.

Milk Bar
Tonight at 9pm, Milk Bar is hosting its monthly tribute to The Smiths, with DJs Jacob Fury, Mario Muse, and Maren Christiansen spinning Brit-pop, punk, and more. You can RSVP here for free, or it's $5 at the door.

Second Act
At 7:30 tonight, Second Act is screening Young Hearts Run Free, the first film from indie director Andrew Simpson. It's a coming of age story set in England in the 1970s, and you can read the full description here. Simpson will do a Q&A after the film, and will talk a little about his microbudget and his film tour. It's $7 to attend.

Booksmith
Booksmith has Sarah Waters, author of Tipping The Velvet, tonight at 7:30pm to talk about her new book The Paying Guests. She'll be in conversation with Malinda Lo, curator of Diversity in YA. The event is free, but if you want them to hold a seat for you, you can swing by (or call) and purchase a book in advance. Description and details here

The Ice Cream Bar
This is less of an event, and more of a Just So You Know, but the old-timey soda fountain has updated its menu with some new drinks and concoctions. Most importantly, in a delightful and delicious Ren-faire twist, there is now mead available on the menu. Currently, there are three flavors, and they're offering flights, so you can taste all three. The flight option might not be permanent, though, so get in there

Park Branch Library
The library is having a family screening of Monsters Inc. this afternoon from 3-5pm. (It's sponsored by Friends of the Public Library, which will be having their annual big book sale later this week down at Fort Mason.)

And that's all she wrote for today's neighborhood activities. Have fun!
