If you haven't been to 1428 Haight St. recently, you may not have known that the eatery has broken away from the Squat and Gobble franchise after a management split. Now called 1428 Haight Patio Cafe & Crepery, the inside is much the same, but the owners have rejiggered the menu slightly, paring down the crepe options and expanding the breakfasts and dinner options. So far, reviews have been favorable.
Another good reason to check it out? 1428 Haight has teamed up with Taking It To The Streets this week. Starting today (Monday the 24th) and ending Friday, November 28th, it'll be donating five percent of its proceeds to the outreach organization in yet another stunning example of neighborhood generosity this holiday season. You'll have a rare opportunity to support a local independent business, while also helping out a fledgling nonprofit that is enjoying a tremendous growth spurt

If you're feeling generous, Taking it to the Streets is also looking for a few other things as it expands its services and programs. First, it's looking for a social media coordinator who can donate some time to help them out. "This is a great role if you are interested in getting into the field of social networking and you would like to gain experience. It will also make a huge difference for our organization and help us expand our reach!," reads a post on the organization's Facebook page. If you're interested, you can contact carlie [at] takingittothestreetssf [dot] com.

The group is also in need of socks and underwear, men's clothes, and toiletries. To donate these things, or to volunteer to work on a Sunday outreach session, you can email Jena [at] takingittothestreetssf [dot] com.

While we're at it, we figured we should let you know that Taking it to the Streets will be throwing a benefit party at the Milk Bar on Saturday, December 6th. Admission with be $8 at the door, and there'll be some pretty spectacular raffle prizes to give away, most of which have been donated by local Haight Street businesses. So far, it looks like bottles of wine,  a huge bag of books from Booksmith, taxidermy bats from Mystery Mister, toys from Kid Robot, as well as gift certificates to Relic Vintage, Recycled Records, Fluevog, Sparrow, and others will be part of the prize loot.

Also on the agenda: live music, burlesque, and a chance to meet and greet the founders of the Haight outreach organization. We'll see you there!
