Monday, November 10th

Location: Noir Lounge (581 Hayes @ Laguna)
Start Time: 6pm
Price: FREE
Looking for a cool jazz club to ease the stress after a long and arduous Monday? Happy hour at Noir Lounge features Jay Sanders, a Bay Area trumpet player who has been known to sit in at several jazz hang-outs in San Francisco (including Haight Street's Club Deluxe). If you like that kind of cool cat, Jay will be entertaining audiences from 6-9pm (he's there Sundays through Tuesdays). Grab a cocktail and relax: you’ve made it through another Monday.

Tuesday, November 11th

Location: The Independent
Start Time: 7:30pm
Price: $14
Members of this folk duo have a history that may surprise those who are already familiar with their music: they are the last men standing from the now defunct San Francisco-based indie rock group The Court & The Spark. After a relocation to North Carolina, Hiss Golden Messenger is heading back to San Francisco to promote its fifth record, “Lateness of Dancers”. Since the band's inception in 2007, it's released records in multiple countries and continued to develop its sound.

Wednesday, November 12th

Location: The Independent
Start Time: 8pm (Doors 7:30pm)
Price: $16
Leave it to The Independent to rope us back in again and get us through hump day. Shakey Graves, known simply on his Facebook page as “a gentleman from Texas”, is the stage name of born rocker Alejandro Rose-Garcia. A professional actor, Garcia got his feet on the ground with music in the New York “anti-folk” scene. His music has since spread so far that for the past three years his home city has celebrated “Shakey Graves Day” in his honor. Garcia produces a sonic salad of alternative rock coupled with a splash of blues and soulful vocals that explain why he’s earned himself a self-titled holiday.

Thursday, November 13th

Location: Milk Bar
Start Time: 8pm (Doors 7:30pm)
Price: $5
Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Olivia Awbrey staked her claim in the Pacific Northwest music scene as the front-woman of the folk band Small Joys. She is currently traveling all along the West Coast on a solo tour for the month of November. Her lyrics are delightfully self aware and she delivers a performance that's both thought-provoking and humorous, leaving us wondering just what she’ll think of next.

Friday, November 14th

Location: The Fillmore
Start Time: 9pm (Doors 8pm)
Price: $25
Greensky Bluegrass is actually exactly what you’d expect from a band titled as such. Hailing from Kalamazoo, Michigan, these guys groove along as well as the next acoustic outfit whilst “contrasting everything that isn’t bluegrass with everything that is,” as songwriter Paul Hoffman says. With a killer light show and a powerful sound reminiscent of your favorite rock n’ roll band, Greensky Bluegrass is definitely worthy of your Friday night.

Saturday, November 15th

Location: Boom Boom Room
Start Time: 8pm (Doors 7:30pm)
Price: $10
After a week-long ride through the myriad original music coming out of the city, a trip to the Boom Boom Room on Saturday night will take you back ...  waaay back. Naive Melodies is simultaneously a tribute to the Beastie Boys and The Meters, and the outcome is not only spot-on, but a hell of a show. These guys broke through the local scene with a Talking Heads tribute, and are continuing to expand their repertoire with this show. At ten bucks, the show simply can't be beat, which is why it's worthy of your valuable Saturday night.
