Picks From This Week's Live Music Lineup: 11/17–11/22Photo: X Ambassadors/Facebook
Last week, we debuted a list of day-by-day picks for live music around our neighborhoods, and readers seemed to enjoy it. Today, we're happy to let you know we'll be continuing the series with recurring Monday installments of live music picks for the week ahead.

By no means exhaustive, these roundups are designed to give you a few ideas for catching some shows in the neighborhoods close to you. We'd also love to hear about the upcoming acts you're most excited about, either as a comment or as a tip sent to tips [at] hoodline [dot] com.

Finally, we know that this week's lineup is all-male (Ed. note: and yes, all white), and we promise that won't always be the case. On that note, if you were lucky enough to snag a ticket to the sold-out Mr. Little Jeans show at the Rickshaw Stop this week, more power to you.

Monday, November 17th

Location: The Independent
Start Time: 11:59pm (Doors 11:30)

Brace yourself, San Francisco, because Jesse F. Keeler is officially taking over The Independent. The Canadian-born musician’s tour with Death From Above 1979 has been blazing throughout the states, and luckily San Francisco gets to double-dip in Keeler's world this time around. Death From Above 1979 will get things started at 8pm, and at midnight MSTRKRFT and its infectious electronic grooves will make you think it’s the weekend. The duo's last tour date is November 29th, at which point Keeler and Death From Above 1979 will continue on a multinational tour, so if you’re a MSTRKRFT fan we highly suggest you take this opportunity to take part in the action.

Tuesday, November 18th

Location: Boom Boom Room
Start Time: 9:20pm (Doors 8pm)

It’s safe to say that Will Weston is a perfectionist. His debut album “Quiet, Sirens” was recorded privately over the course of two years in a home studio in San Francisco. Through “Quiet, Sirens” the singer/songwriter not only displayed his aptitude for songwriting, but also crafting a concept that earns him a storyteller credit as well. The efficacy of his approach to music creates a blend of poppy hooks and smooth, funky riffs that are bound to be your ear worm for the next few days after seeing these guys live, which explains how he earned this residency (he’s here every third Tuesday of the month).

Wednesday, November 19th

Location: The Independent
Start Time: 8pm (Doors 7:30pm)
Price: $13
X Ambassadors can’t help but exude that certain kind of chemistry that only comes from years of truly bonding with your creative partners. Siblings Sam and Casey Harris and longtime friend Noah Feldshuh have done just that, having formed their first project when they were in middle school together. When the East Coast brotherhood linked up with LA native Adam Levin and solidified a sound, the group gained notoriety and began popping up everywhere, including on Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP 2”. X Ambassadors delivers a full auditory experience that’s sure to keep you moving all night long.

Thursday, November 20th

Location: The Fillmore
Start Time: 8pm (Doors 7pm)
Price: $35
Celebrating a career that spans 18 years and 12 record releases, Drive By Truckers brings its brand of Southern rock back to San Francisco. Its most recent release, "English Oceans", provides the perfect soundtrack to cruising down Hwy 101 or playing a game of pool at your local dive. These guys have retained their energy after all these years, and are certainly not one to miss.

Friday, November 21st

Location: Milk Bar
Start Time: 9pm
Price: $7
The Spiral Electric is more than just a band: it's a testament to dedication to the craft of music as a whole. The group began as a recording project that lasted two years (which is longer than a lot of gigging bands manage to keep it together), leading up to its first live show in 2012. Since its live debut, the band has successfully gone on to tour the West Coast twice, and is hard at work on a full length EP. Local scene junkies might also recognize drummer Sonny Pearce from the band Electric Shepard, proudly asserting his affinity for that “e” word that describes his playing style.

Saturday, November 22nd

Location: The Independent
Start Time: 9pm (Doors 8:30)
Price: $15
Five college friends from Santa Barbara bring a unique brand of entrancing electronic style to San Francisco this weekend. The Independent is their second stop in the city on their West Coast tour (the first being Friday night at the Rickshaw Stop). Unlike a lot of similar sounding groups, Gardens & Villa strives to make sure that its live show is a perfect representation of its recorded material. Everything you hear on the group's self-titled EP will be replicated during the live show, which is a detail that many modern bands tend to overlook. Gardens & Villa is a unique outfit that always delivers on its auditory promises, which is why it’s earned our Saturday night endorsement.
