Few bands can maintain underground notoriety the way The Grandpa Paws have. These guys have been tearing up the scene for years, and have survived multiple lineup changes, hiatuses and the firing and re-hiring of members. Not surprisingly, the chaos that surrounds The Grandpa Paws is the very thing that drives their music and creates a certain air of mystery around this outfit of musical bandits. Accompanied by The Batrays, this free showcase of talent is a great bet for starting your week off right.

Tuesday, November 25th

Location: Boom Boom Room
Start Time: 8pm (Doors 9:15)
Price: $12
Where else in San Francisco are you going to have a chance to catch a supergroup of this magnitude? Boasting names like Human Rights (lead singer) of Bad Brains and Rocky George (former guitarist) of Suicidal Tendencies, Mr. Green All Stars brings a night of punk rock/reggae to the Boom Boom Room that’s well worth the cover price. The lineup of this band has varied since its inception in the mid 2000s, and this incarnation is definitely one of the more exciting ones yet.

Wednesday, November 26th

Act: Kitten
Location: Rickshaw Stop
Start Time: 9:30pm
Price: $13
The greatest thing about Chloe Chaidez is her incredible resilience. Her L.A. based electro-pop project, Kitten, was originally formed in 2009 and has quickly climbed the ranks despite the comings and goings of her band members. She continues to recreate that sonic blend of early '80s post-punk and British new wave textures to deliver a refreshing sound that alludes to similar artists of her genre. With a recently released self titled (debut) album, Kitten delivers compositions that’ll make audiences feel as if their hearts have synced to the rhythm.

Friday, November 28th

Location: Rickshaw Stop
Start Time: 8:30pm
Price: $12 ($14 at door)
What makes I The Mighty so special is not the fact that it has shared stages with well-known groups such as The Dear Hunter and The Deftones, although that sentence should have definitely piqued your interest. The real selling point of this group is lead singer Brent Walsh’s impressive vocal range. Few alternative rockers bring the classic R&B crooning and passionate nu-metal screaming to the table the way Walsh can. His unique blend of vocal technique against a background of chugging guitar riffs and furious double bass is truly a remarkable sound that we implore you to delve into.

Saturday, November 29th

Location: The Independent
Start Time: 9pm (Doors 8:30pm)
Price: $20 ($22 at door)
This Bay Area-born outfit is rapidly approaching its 20th year in existence (originally formed in 1996) and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. From its humble beginnings as the house band at the Elbo Room in 1999 through the departure of founding member Ben Chambers in 2007, Tea Leaf Green has continued to press on, with this year marking the release of its seventh studio album "Radio Tragedy", which drummer Scott Rager describes as "... the record we’ve always thought we were capable of making.” Tea Leaf Green’s unique blend of rock and folk tonalities makes it a sure-fire fit for getting your body moving and working off that Thanksgiving turkey.
