It's been a rough Christmas for the Animal House pet store at Fillmore and Waller, where a car crashed into the side of the shop this afternoon.

The crash occurred around 1pm, according to witnesses who quickly took to Twitter.
Fillmore Street resident Rob passed along the following photo of the scene inside the store, showing significant damage to the wall and merchandise scattered about:

We've reached out to both the SFPD and Animal House for more details, and will update with any additional information.

Update 12/26: Animal House's Megan Johnson tells us:

"A driver lost control of his car when his brakes stopped working. To avoid hitting a pedestrian he ran into the animal house. Thank God no one was hurt in the car and no one was in the store. Pepper was found right away. Tiger is still missing. But I'm sure she's hidden somewhere. That's like her. Obviously we're going to be closed for a bit so stay tuned. Feeling very blessed that no one was hurt."

Update 12/26: SFPD spokesman Gordon Shyy tells us the crash occurred around 12:15pm. The driver was not injured, and the collision is under investigation.
