Hayes Valley Happenings: Bake Sales, Toy Drives, Events And MorePhoto: La Boulange
The sun is out in the neighborhood today, as are plenty of holiday shoppers taking advantage of holiday sales (as well as, we suspect, wayward Santas participating in today's SantaCon). Here's what's to know about neighborhood happenings this weekend.
Today until 4pm, La Boulange will be hosting a Holiday Bake Sale, which it's calling "a tasting and pre-order event." If you're looking around for that perfect Buche de Noel, stop by Hayes and Octavia for a taste and get 15 percent off your entire order of holiday treats.

Toy drives are happening all over the city, but there's a little something in it for you this weekend, as both Azalea and Rand + Stadler will give you 25 percent off of one item from the store per new or gently used toy that you bring in. The deal lasts until Monday December 15th, so plan on shopping/donating sometime this weekend.

Speaking of shopping, Alternative Apparel is hosting a neighborhood "shop and sip" today. Enjoy 30 percent off storewide, as well as spiced cider with bourbon and Christmas cookies and gingerbread from Fillmore Bakery. "We are also partnering with Project Homeless Connect for their hoodie drive," manager Kai Shane told us. "For every hoodie sold over the weekend, we are giving one to a person in need."

If you'll recall, tonight marks the grand debut of the SF Symphony's SoundBox, a new experimental music space (and bar!). If you were lucky enough to snag a ticket, let us know how tonight's performance went. If not, be sure to nab a seat for the space's next show on Jan. 9th and 10th.

If you're looking for another non-holiday event to distract you this week, look no further than Rickshaw Stop's Nerd Nite this Wednesday, which will feature "sham science inspiring real inquiry, really weird science so hard to measure it seems fake, and an only-in-California tale of one of the most famous taxidermy victims to grace a flagpole." Show starts at 7pm on Wednesday, December 17th, and tickets are $8.
