As you know, Hoodline brings you news and stories from some of San Francisco's central neighborhoods. Today, we're happy to announce that we're officially launching daily Hoodline coverage of the Inner Sunset.
Recently, we’ve found ourselves covering more and more stories in the Inner Sunset. Some of the hot topics we write about overlap, like changes to the N-Judah, the 71-L and traffic bulb-outs, events in Golden Gate Park, or issues that involve Park Station’s policing or District 5’s governance. And of course, lots of Inner Sunset residents and Hoodline readers go back and forth between the Inner Sunset and our coverage areas of Upper Haight, Lower Haight and more as they travel across the city.
We’ve realized that we have a good number of readers in the Inner Sunset already, and we hope that our coverage will help the people who live and work in the Inner Sunset learn more about what’s happening around them and get better connected with one other.
As with current Hoodline neighborhoods, look for a broad mix of stories about breaking news, local businesses, people who make a difference in the community, and more. So you can expect more articles like this one about the history of the Sunset Tunnel, about local happenings like last weekend's Vagabond Indie Craft Fair, or about the trials of longtime businesses like Le Video.
Heading up our coverage will be Walter Thompson, an 18-year San Francisco resident who resides in that gray area between Inner Sunset and Cole Valley. A Long Island native, he studied creative writing at Oberlin and has worked for a number of media and tech companies since the '90s. (Fun fact: his first job was as a webmaster of a mail-order retailer for science fiction shwag, which he described as serving "people who want ‘Dr. Who’ ornaments".)
