We continue our photo series with another installment of brief on-the-street interviews and snapshots from our friend Dijon of Souls of San Francisco

Today, we present a few portraits taken recently in the Castro.

“I grew up in Southern California, spent my whole life there. I came to San Francisco for a change. I just knew this was where I wanted to lay the foundation for a new life. I’ve been here a couple years and I’ve never been happier.”

“What’s your dream for your time here?”

“I want to continue to meet new people. It’s such a small city but I love meeting new people all the time. I want to go to San Francisco State University and study English, be a writer. I’d love to teach.”

“Cool, what kind of writing?”

“Poetry. I haven’t written anything in a minute so I hesitate to call myself a writer.”

Left - “We both go to school at SF State. We hung out for the first time at a study date at Panera.”

“What’s one of your favorite things about him?”

Right - “He’s a go-getter. If he puts his mind to it, he’ll get it.”

“And you?”

Left - “He’s very open-minded and down for anything.”

“You guys look really happy and stable, any advice for how to work through relationship problems?”

Left - “Learn to let your pride down.”

Right - “Yeah, and trust each other.”

“My best friend made me move out here from South Carolina. He moved out here a year and a half before I did and bugged me until I came.”

“I’m a professional drag queen. I perform every Friday at Aunt Charlie’s but I’m mostly privately contracted.”

“What’s your show like?”

“Lots of dance, lots of choreography, sometimes I sing, it just depends on what I’m feeling.”

“Looking good fellas! What are you two up to today?”

Right - “I’m on my way to get a beard trim.”

Left - “I’ve got a fisting appointment.”

“You mean like—"

“—exactly what it sounds like.”

“I’m what you call a Silver Fox.”
