Upper Haight Weekend Odds & Ends: Your Holiday PrimerPhoto: Camden Avery/Hoodline
It's just under two weeks until Christmas, three days until Hanukkah, and a mere hop-skip until Saturnalia. But what's happening now?
First, lest you forget, SantaCon 2014 convened today at noon in Union Square, and will continue throughout the day. If you're attending, good luck; if not, you've been officially warned. Don't be surprised if your bus route is delayed by seas of jolly men in red and sexy elves.

Second, Christmas trees: have you forgotten to get one? Your local options are Cole Hardware, who has a range of sizes and varieties available, as well as baling and trimming. (They also have leftover cuttings and wreaths.) Roberts Hardware has wreaths, poinsettias and small potted live trees. If you're willing to truck a little further for a bit more variety there's Sloat Garden Center on 3rd Avenue between Geary and Clement. (Just don't plan on walking home.)

In retail hints, Piper's Shoe Parlor is having a sale on Chrome bags, True has up to 70 percent off all apparel and selected shoes, plus half of t-shirts, and Amoeba's "Super Saturday Sale" is here, with 20 percent off all turntables, posters, headphones and used books. In short, look for lots of sales, and lots of holiday shoppers, out in the neighborhood this weekend.

In related news, if you're a fan of Haight Street's Ambiance location, take note that the store has added to its bevy of San Francisco outposts with a new Noe Valley space at  3979 24th St. Congrats, Ambiance crew!

Planning ahead? Chabad of Cole Valley is hosting a Hanukkah festival at Grattan Elementary School, 165 Grattan Street, on Sunday, December 21st from 3 -5pm, which will include arts and crafts, kids activities with AcroSports, and a nine-foot-tall Menorah.

Did we miss any notable weekend happenings? Let us know in the comments. Otherwise, stay safe, play nice, and enjoy the impending holidays.
