Cove To Take Over Gallery 683 SpacePhoto: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline
There will soon be another little shuffle on the 600 block of Haight, as plant and gift shop Cove preps to depart its space and hop across the street.

It will take over 683 Haight, the space being vacated by Gallery 683, which closed on Christmas Eve.

Owner Jean Marx tells us that the move is being prompted by a looming rent increase. Her current building has been sold, and the new owners would like to lock in a new tenant at a higher rent. Marx doesn't think such a tenant has been found yet, though.

"I think it's going to be sitting empty for some time while they figure out how to improve the space and find the right tenant," Marx tells us.

Look for Cove to reopen across the street sometime in February. In the meantime, the shop is having a moving sale, so swing by 678 Haight for discounts on all sorts of items. And to take a virtual peek inside Cove, check out our profile from May 2014.
