SFist reported on Thursday that drag personality, actor, and show host Cookie Dough (Eddie Bell) suffered a brain edema while in Puerto Vallarta this past Wednesday. He fell into a coma overnight after complaining of feeling sick during the days leading up to the hospitalization.

Pollo Del Mar (Paul Pratt), a friend  of Bell's and fellow drag queen currently in Puerto Vallarta, reported the news about the hospitalization on his Facebook account saying that Bell was comatose and on life support.

Pratt has been providing the community with updates about Bell's situation and let followers know on Thursday that Bell's husband, Michael Chu (also known as DJ MC2) had flown down to be by his side.

Bell was in Puerto Vallarta to reprise his role as Sophia Petrillo in the yearly drag queen reenactment of episodes from The Golden Girls. Bell as Cookie Dough is host at the weekly drag show "The Monster Show" at the Edge bar.

Pratt shared on his Facebook late Thursday night that things were uncertain, but that the community should send good vibes to the couple:

"This is what we can all agree upon: Cookie & Michael are two of the kindest, sweetest, most loving people many of us know. It is collectively & individually difficult to feel so powerless & fear the worst in a situation like this, where people's lives hang in the balance. However, positive thought, prayer, community togetherness & the generosity of both spirit & a few extra bucks is GREATLY appreciated in this situation."

At Thursday night's Monster Show at the Edge, attendees dropped in notes of concern and caring to Bell in addition to money to help cover medical expenses, into cookie jars.

A GoFundMe page was setup on Thursday afternoon with a goal to raise $40k to help cover Bell's medical expenses. As of this post publishing date the fund is at over $22k.

Pratt posted on his Facebook Friday afternoon that Chu would be speaking with Bell's primary care physician in San Francisco, "We hope the doctors can come to a meeting of the minds about how best to treat her. This will include discussion about continue treatment here, moving her back to the U.S. & ironing out all of her medical coverage," Pratt shared.

Update, 1/26: Cookie Dough is on her way home to San Francisco today.

We will update readers as we find out more information.
