Edo Salon Expanding Into Former Vickie's Boutique SpacePhotos: Andrew Dudley / Hoodline

We have an update on the ongoing merchant shuffle on the 600 block of Haight Street.

As we reported in October, Edo Salon has temporarily moved to 631 Haight Street from its position at the corner of Haight and Steiner, as its original home undergoes an earthquake retrofitting. Its former neighbor, Vickie's Boutique, also was required to shut down during the mandatory upgrade.

At the time, Vickie's owner Victoria Davis told us she was unsure whether or not her boutique would reopen after the retrofit. Today we have the answer: Vickie's is closed for good.

Edo manager Tiffany Ward tells us that the wall between the two shops will be knocked down, and Edo will expand to fill the combined space.

While the original hope was that Edo would return to its corner location by February, Ward says that contractors are now estimating that structural work will wrap up at the end of March. With about a month of interior remodeling thereafter, Edo is aiming for a reopening date of May 1st.
