Fog-Themed Music Festival Coming To Second Act

For four nights at the end of the month, Second Act will host a music festival dedicated to and inspired by San Francisco's infamous summer vacation-ruiner: fog.

Produced by Aural Films records, "the label that publishes soundtracks for movies that do not exist," the San Francisco Fog Music Festival 2015 will be "a four day event that brings together more than 20 different artists to present their sound and light interpretations of the weather event known as fog."

The lineup of musical artists will be all over the spectrum, from the acoustic to the avant-garde, and will include live video and visual media as part of the programming.

We reached out to event producer Jack Hertz, who told us that each performer has been commissioned to create a piece of music inspired by fog in some way (you can see the full list of artists here, with links to the artists' respective pages). They've done fog shows in the past, Hertz told us, featuring everything from solo guitarists to larger eight-piece ambient music groups. This is his first attempt at a festival, however.

"I was producing the Fog Music series," he said, "and was looking for a gallery or other place to share the music with the public when the idea to do a festival came up. With San Francisco being well-known for its fog and the wealth of new music artists, the whole thing grew legs."

"And here we are," he said, "really excited to present four days of live, original music accompanied by fog-themed video."

The festival goes from January 28th to 31st, 7pm-11pm, and it'll run you $5-10 per night on a sliding scale. You can RSVP on Facebook here.
