Burn Fitness Studio Headed To Former Art Deco Collection Space On MarketMeaghan Clark/Hoodline

For all you fitness enthusiasts, there’s a new player in the neighborhood.

Burn, a San Francisco-based fitness studio that combines cardio, Pilates and strength training, is opening a fourth location in the Art Deco Collection space at 1632 Market St.

Referred to as the "Market Street Deco Ghetto" in a 2008 Chronicle story, this particular stretch of Market is undergoing plenty of change, with its furniture stores closing up shop or moving, as Art Deco did with an Oakland relocation. (Earlier this week, we noted the return of E6 Gallery to the Salle Pianos space next door.)

For more than four months, Burn founder and fitness expert Lisa Corsello and her team have been renovating the space. “We got to build it from scratch, which was really fun,” she said. “It’s beautiful with floor-to-ceiling windows and high ceilings.”

The space has been transformed into a multi-purpose unit that includes a waiting room, retail space, changing area and its own separate studio. The 1,700 square foot studio was completely gutted, said Corsello, who opened the first Burn in 2009. “It’s our biggest studio yet,” said Corsello, “and it’s the first studio with its own [separate class] space.”

The new schedule offered on Market Street will accommodate a wide range of clients, with classes from 6am to 6pm. The studio can accommodate 18 students for each 55-minute class. “We have the best 55-minute workout,” said Corsello. “We believe that the workout has to work for each and every person, and it’s our job to give them the perfect workout for their body.”

Interested in trying it out? Burn will be open for business at 1632 Market St. beginning Saturday, February 21st. Opening day classes will be taught by Corsello and Burn Fitness Director Rachael Frank at 8am, 11am and 1pm.

If you’re hesitant to book a class, check out the studio space during their Grand Opening Party on the 21st from 6–8pm. There will be complimentary appetizers and light snacks, plus a chance to win prizes.
