Shortly after 4pm today a large fire broke out in a residential building on Church and 15th streets. It was quickly upgraded to a 4-alarm fire, and appears to have damaged two to four buildings.
The news quickly spread via Twitter, with one video showing an inferno-like blaze emerging from one of the residential buildings:

No reports have been released yet regarding any injuries, though it appears a cat required oxygen:

Kevin Chang, a witness at the scene, told us that he overheard police saying that an explosion started the fire.
In April of last year a fire broke out only two blocks from the scene, at 14th and Dolores streets.
This is the fourth large fire to hit San Francisco so far this year. A fire displaced over 50 residents on January 28th in the Mission. The following day a fire broke out in the Tenderloin, forcing 18 people from their homes. And finally, on January 31st a third fire damaged three buildings near Alamo Square.
