Divisadero Microhood Event Returns This ThursdayPhoto: Stephen Jackson/Hoodline

This Thursday, the Bold Italic's Divisadero Microhood event returns for its second year in the neighborhood, and local merchants are offering discounts, raffles, and special treats.

2015 marks the fourth year that The Bold Italic has hosted "microhood" events, having previously celebrated in the Mission, Dogpatch, Mid-Market, North Beach, Divisadero, The Marina, Hayes Valley, and the Inner Sunset.

Ellen Black, The Bold Italic's Director of Events and Marketing, tells us that they want to inspire readers to explore the far corners of the city. "We try to spread out the event amongst geographically different places and neighborhoods with different vibes."

Last year's Divisadero Microhood and Art Walk combination drew over 1,200 people to the neighborhood. It included corporate sponsors Google Shopping Express and Chevrolet, plus an empanada truck, a photo booth, and a lemonade giveaway.

This year, no big corporate sponsors are on the docket, though Aviation Gin and Calicraft are beverage sponsors and the event is co-presented by Cover, which promises a prize of complimentary drinks at La Urbana, burgers at NOPA, and dessert at Ragazza for one lucky couple.

"It's the wildly diverse and creative community of small business owners in San Francisco that makes the event unique in each neighborhood," says Ellen.

Here's just a few of the events taking place from 6pm-8pm on Thursday night:

  • Onyx (289 Divisadero) will offer 10 percent off and feature the work of weaver and fiber artist Meghan Shimek
  • Skin City (323 Divisadero) is hosting food and Caribbean music, a 20 percent discount for new clients who book appointments during the microhood event, and a raffle for free facials and waxing
  • MaduSalon (300 Divisadero) will give first-time clients 20 percent off any color appointments that are scheduled during the event
  • The ice cream Scoop Shop at Bi-Rite Divisadero (550 Divisadero) will be serving a special Bi-Rite Affogato made with Blue Bottle coffee almond chip and brown sugar ice cream for $7.99 (served in a take-home mason jar)
  • Rare Device (600 Divisadero) will have live screen printing by All Gold, paintings on display by Courtney Cerruti, and a raffle (with prizes curated from designers the shop carries) to benefit the Alamo Square fire fund
  • The Independent (628 Divisadero) will be giving away two free tickets to the Futurebirds show that night (stop by the box office to learn how to win)
  • Everlasting Tattoo (813 Divisadero) will feature special pricing on certain tattoo designs
  • Mini Bar (837 Divisadero) will host a Nerd Art Show
  • Hunted (843 Divisadero) is offering 10 percent off in-store purchases of their wide array of vintage jewelry and accessories

The after party for the whole event will be held at Madrone Art Bar. Starting at 8pm, stop by and use the password "The Bold Italic" to get in for free. Special cocktails of the evening will be $7 Citron Swizzles, and $1 off of draft beers.

We'll see you out there!
