Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 18th, when DogFest returns to Duboce Park for its 8th year.

At the annual event, which doubles as a fundraiser for McKinley Elementary School, the park is transformed into a paradise for both dogs and their humans, with games, food, and vendors galore.

Expected highlights for this year's 'Fest include:

  • A silent auction featuring hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, event tickets and more
  • A "chow zone" sponsored by Whole Foods with hot dogs, hamburgers and pulled pork sandwiches
  • A pet care and adoption zone featuring rescue dogs looking for a new home
  • A kid carnival with games, balloon animals, face painting, baked goods and an inflatable obstacle course

And of course there's the Everyday Dog Show, at which emcee Daniel Handler will preside over a canine competition for titles like Best Owner/Dog Lookalike, Best Bark, Best Trick, and Best Lap Dog.

Judges for the event are set to include San Francisco Chronicle columnist Leah Garchik, District 8 Supervisor Scott Wiener, District 5 Supervisor London Breed, and more. (To register your dog to compete in the proceedings, go here.)

Last year, 'Rufus' won both Best In Show and Best Body Part. Observe:

Next month's event will take place on April 18th from 11am to 4pm. Check out more of our pics from last year's edition to get a sense of what's to come.
