It's another glorious weekend, and we've got news you can use about what's happening in the neighborhood.

First, off, remember that the N-Judah is running shuttle buses again until Monday morning, so plan for above-ground transportation if you're headed east over the weekend.

Snowbird Coffee/Facebook

Inner Sunset Farmers’ Market

Mushrooms are the featured product at this week’s farmers' market; producers will have many different types on offer, so this would be a good opportunity to try your hand at making risotto or baking a pizza. We're also at the tail end of citrus season, so nab some tangelos while you still can!

The Farmers’ Market is located in the parking lot on 9th between Irving and Judah from 9am to 1pm.

Bay Area Vintage Base Ball League

If you like baseball and time travel, head to the Big Rec ballpark near 7th & Lincoln to watch six teams from the Bay Area Vintage Base Ball League. Time stopped in 1886 for the BAVBB, which means period costumes, walks on seven balls instead of four, and gentlemanly conduct all around.

  • 9am: Berkeley Clarions vs. San Francisco Pacifics
  • 12 pm: New Almaden Cinnabars vs. San Francisco Pelicans
  • Oakland Colonels vs. San Francisco Barbary Coast

Author Eliott Behar, Green Apple Books On the Park

Tomorrow at 3pm, drop into Green Apple Books on the Park for an author event with Eliott Behar. His new book, Tell It To The World, is an examination of “international criminal justice and war crimes in Kosovo.” Justice Grace Vineyards will “generously” pour for attendees, according to the event description. You'll also be able to check out Green Apple's new mural by Lindsay Stripling (below). Green Apple Books on the Park is located at 1231 9th Ave., between Lincoln and Irving.

Hadar Aviram: Observations on the Criminal Justice System

UC’s Hastings College of Law professor Hadar Aviram is giving a talk about her new book, "Cheap on Crime: Recession-Era Politics and the Transformation of American Punishment". Aviram weaves together economics, social history and data “to show the powerful impact of recession-era discourse on the death penalty, the war on drugs, incarceration practices, prison health care, and other aspects” of America’s criminal justice system. Hosted by the Sunset Heights Association of Responsible People, the talk will take place in SHARP’s community room at 1736 9th Ave. from 7pm-9pm.

And finally, in anticipation of April Fools Day coming up on Wednesday, let it be known that local magic shop Misdirections has stocked up on stink bombs and a stink perfume called "Morning Breeze". Parents be warned.
