Heron Watch at Stow Lake

We’re well into spring, which means it’s nesting season for the herons at Stow Lake. Naturalists lead walks near the nesting sites between 10:15am and noon, so head there now if you want a guided tour. Until 12:30pm, you can join a heron watch led by San Francisco Nature Education at the Stow Lake Boathouse Observation Deck (50 Stow Lake Drive), where interns and volunteers will show and educate you about herons and their chicks using spotting scopes.

The observation deck program is free, and the nature walks are free for children, $10 for adults. If you miss this weekend, feel free to explore on your own, but please keep your distance from these elegant birds. The program continues every Saturday until May 16th.
