A man died and an elderly man was treated for smoke inhalation and released after a fire at a 12-unit building at 1050 Columbus Ave. on Thursday night.
A representative for SFFD said they received the call at 10pm and the fire was under control by 10:29pm.
The cause doesn't appear suspicious, SFFD said, but it is under investigation.
Smoke was seen on the second and third floor of the building, but fire damage was confined to one unit.
The victims' names are not being released, but SFPD reported one was an 88-year-old male. We'll update this story if we learn more about the incident.
Update, 4/7: The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Melvin Patterson.
