This coming Sunday, April 19th isn't just the day before 4/20. It's also the kick-off of the third iteration of NOW!, the biannual week-long community assembly in the Panhandle Park and around the Upper Haight.
The festival is intended as a coherent series of community-organized events for residents of the Upper Haight and environs.
NOW! advertises itself as "co-creat[ing] the best possible version of our community for one extraordinary week. Between 50 and 100 events will be taking place in the communities surrounding the Panhandle during the week."

Events are typically outdoorsy, low-maintenance and flexible enough to allow freestyle participation. This Sunday alone includes a wide array, but here's a smattering of highlights:
- Rock 'n' Swap record swap, 2130 Fulton St., 10 am
- Free Naam Yoga, 116 Clayton St., 10 am
- Outdoor swing dancing behind the de Young, on JFK Drive, 11 am
- Slackline City, Fell and Clayton streets, 11 am
- Kubb Tournament, Fell and Clayton streets, 11:30 am
- Chalk Painting, the McKinley statue in the Panhandle, 12 noon
- Silent Disco, Panhandle Playground, 2 to 4 pm
- Uke Can't Fu(kulele) It Up, Panhandle (near the slacklines, we're told), 2pm to 6pm
There are dozens of events going on throughout the week, so if you'd like to participate, a full roster of the lineup is available here.
Of particular to interest to many of our readers is the Referee The Wiggle event we wrote about earlier this week, happening at Waller and Steiner next Thursday at 3 pm.
And if you'd like to drop in a last minute event of your own, or for future versions of NOW!, you can submit event proposals right here.
