Black Sands Brewery To Host Bonanza Sale This Weekend

If you want a peek inside the upcoming Lower Haight brewery Black Sands, or just need some new duds, swing by the corner of Haight and Pierce this weekend.

The space will be open to the public for a retail sales event, featuring deep discounts on "one-of-a-kind production samples, last sizes, deadstock inventory and special treasurers" from several local shops. It's called the Voyager Friends & Family Sale, organized by the Valencia Street boutique.

Voyager, like Black Sands, is co-owned by Lower Haight resident Robert Patterson, who also runs Revolver on Fillmore Street. Patterson tells us he views this weekend's event as "a good opportunity for the space to start to interact with the community in a positive and fun way."

On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, construction at 701 Haight St. will pause for the pop-up event. Both Revolver and Voyager will be participating, as will San Francisco-based vendors including Taylor Stitch, MAAS & Stacks, Gravel & Gold, Joshu+Vela, and Totem.

As for Black Sands, Patterson tells us that major work is complete, and they are onto "mainly finish work" – some of which the team has been documenting on social media over the past few weeks.

They still have to paint, install fixtures and hardwood floors, install the brewery equipment, and pass all final inspections. If all goes well, work should wrap up in "about a month," Patterson says.

The Voyager Friends & Family Sale takes place this Saturday and Sunday, May 2nd and 3rd, from noon to 6pm at Black Sands, 701 Haight St.
