Divisadero Roundup: The First Week In May

Photo: Bill Brine

May is upon us, and we're all wondering what the month will hold for the Divisadero neighborhood. Will Sightglass finally open their doors? When will 4505 Burgers & BBQ's patio be done? In the meantime, here's a few things to keep you busy this coming week:

  • Today Madrone is hosting a Kentucky Derby viewing party from 1-3:30pm. Mint juleps will be served, and derby attire (such as large hats) are encouraged.
  • Rare Device is donating 10% of sales to Nepal's earthquake relief efforts for one week. Make sure to pick up all items on your wish list this weekend to have your purchase included, or drop a dollar in their donation jar.
  • 4505 Meat's Feed the Pig recipient for May is Bay Leaf Kitchen, which teaches kids and families how to prepare and cook healthy meals. Donations can be made at any 4505 location, and Monday May 25th 5% of sales will be donated to the organization. The goal this month is to reach $2,000.
  • Mini Bar is hosting an art opening on Thursday, May 7th at 837 Divisadero St. Featured artists will include Paul Lopez Montwillo, Tuesday Cohen, Anita Beshirs and Johnny Dismal. Swing by between 7-11:00pm for some art schmoozing and a Jameson shot special.
  • If you or someone you know is suffering from knee pain, help can be found at Yoga Garden this coming Saturday, May 9th. Cora Wen will be running a workshop on preventing and protecting knee injuries. The four-hour session covers using props for knee health, creating stability and flexibility, and long-term care.

Finally, just a reminder that Kung Food Chinese at 1615 McAllister St., Repose Coffee at 262 Divisadero St., Rewaxation at 906 Divisadero St., and Q Spa at 604 Divisadero St. all opened in the past month. Have you visited them yet?
