A 40-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries overnight after being struck by a car on Market Street.

The collision occurred around 12:30am this morning on the 2000 block of Market Street, near Buchanan, according to SFPD. Update: An eyewitness has confirmed that the incident occurred on the 2300 block of Market, and says that the man was struck while running across the street (i.e. not in the crosswalk) from Beaux (2344 Market) to the CafĂ© (2369 Market). SFPD spokesman Albie Esparza verified that the earlier location was an estimate based on the collision information obtained by police.

The man was struck by an Acura heading eastbound, and suffered head trauma, a broken arm, and a broken leg, police say. He was transported to SF General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Acura remained at the scene.

As of this morning there are no updates available on the victim's condition.
