Break out your calendars, be they in app or paper form: The Tenderloin and Mid-Market neighborhoods will be hopping this May, with events ranging from foodie fundraisers to serial killer art shows.

  • Resolute Wine Bar on Geary and Leavenworth this week to see if their doors are open. The predicted opening date was May 1st, though now it's planned for the end of this week.
  • On May 7th Project Open Hand's biggest yearly fundraiser is taking place. Called Taste of the City, the event brings together philanthropists and foodies to sample the fares of the top restaurants in the city. Starting with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at City Hall, guests are then transported by chauffeured cars to the participating restaurant of their choice for a chef's special meal. The event ends with (yet more) cocktails at City Hall, with live entertainment. Tickets are $300 and all proceeds go to helping serve Project Open Hand recipients.
  • The next Open Late On Larkin, the Tenderloin's own art walk and small business showcase, will be taking place on Tuesday May 7th. One event taking place during the evening will be "Serial Killer Ketamine Orgy," an art show taking place at The Loin SF. Stay in the loop with Open Late on Larkin by following them on Facebook.
  • On Saturday May 9th Hashimoto Contemporary (located at 804 Sutter Street) is opening the show "Drifting Forest," featuring work by graffiti artist GATS. The opening will run from 6-10pm, but the show will be up through May 30th. More info can be found on the Facebook event page
  • Need your bike fixed? San Francisco Yellow Bike Project's May hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 6-9:00pm. Stop by the shop at 530 Ellis Street and learn how to change your bike's flat, or get some repairs done by their talented team of volunteers
  • Finally, for the artistically-inclined, Root Division is launching a new round of classes starting in May. Sign up for Introduction to Acrylic Painting which starts May 6th, or Drawing 101 which starts May 11th. Both classes take place at Root Division's temporary home at 1059 Market Street.

Happy May, Hoodline readers!
