Despite cold and fog, the annual event of racing and revelry blew through the city yesterday, with colorful costumes and a cacophony of noise. While some joined in the fun, others fled town or took to social media to express their distaste for the event. Here are a few responses.
A few local residents were optimistic about this year's event:
welp my house didn't get peed on once today so I'm declaring this year's Bay to Breakers a success tbh

Well, #BaytoBreakers wasn't the out-and-out disaster I had anticipated. Saving the squirt guns for next year tho.

While others were less enthused:
Not a good sign that I can hear shouting and the race course is 4 blocks away

folsom street, like a #BaytoBreakers runner puking at the finish line, is a disgusting mess. avoid at all costs. #straightpride2015

I'm eating Bay to Breakers and it tastes like half-naked drunk people trying to find a place to use the bathroom

Many local stores took advantage of the foot traffic to promote their wares and draw runners in:

Others took a firmer stance against the partygoers:
Dude offered to pay $5 to use restroom at cafe. Lady said it was broken. She was lying. She is smart. #BaytoBreakers

Regardless of people's opinions, by 2pm the hardworking folks at SF Public Works had completed the cleanup in record time, wrapping up yet another year of racing and debauchery:
That's a wrap! Our crews got the streets cleaned up after #BaytoBreakers. Beat last year by more than an hour. pic.twitter.com/8lHIhg0XuK

As a reminder, neighborhood residents will be discussing the race (along with a number of other issues) at tonight's Alamo Square Neighborhood Association meeting, where Bay to Breakers media spokesperson Chris Holmes will be speaking about the event. The meeting starts at 7pm at 1660 McAllister St. If you have any thoughts or questions, stop by. If you stayed in the area, how was your Bay to Breakers experience this year? Let us know in the comments.
