Divisadero Recent Crime Roundup: Shots Fired, Battery, Burglaries And More

We do our best to keep you informed of crime and quality-of-life issues in the neighborhoods we cover. Below is a sampling of the crimes that have occurred on or near the Divisadero corridor so far in the month of June, pulled from daily and weekly updates from the SFPD. 

Hot Prowl

On June 14th, the residents of 2100 Scott St. returned home and forgot to shut the garage door. Two bicycles, a snowboard, a spare bicycle tire and the garage-door opener were stolen.

Shots Fired

On June 13th at approximately 12:15pm, officers responded to a report of shots fired at Divisadero and Eddy. Officers found shell casings from a gun, indicating that shots had indeed been fired.  According to SFPD spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak, no one was shot. The case remains under investigation.

Aggravated Assault

On June 8th at 4:29pm, officers responded to a call on the 1100 block of Divisadero Street. A woman was shoved by an unknown assailant while waiting for the bus. The fall caused the victim to sustain several contusions. 

Attempted Vehicle Burglary

At 10:12pm on June 8th, a woman was approaching her parked vehicle near the 900 block of Fell Street when she heard an alarm going off. Closer investigation concluded that it was her vehicle, and that two thieves were attempting to break in. The thieves broke a window, but were scared off by the alarm before anything could be stolen. 

Battery

Officers responded to a battery call on the 500 block of Divisadero at midnight on June 8th. The victim had seen two drunk individuals verbally harassing a woman, and decided to intervene. The attackers punched the victim, then fled the scene before police arrived.

Tourist Burglary

On June 6th, a tourist visiting from Virginia told officers he parked his rental vehicle at Scott and Hayes, returning minutes later to discover the vehicle had been broken into, with several items taken. 

Cell Phones Snatched

On June 6th, around 5pm, a woman had her cell phone stolen near Divisadero and Golden Gate. The victim was walking on the sidewalk with her phone out when thieves approached her and snatched the phone out of her hand, then took off. Similarly, on June 17th at 7:49pm, a 26-year-old woman had her phone grabbed from behind, also at Divisadero and Golden Gate. 

Purse Snatching

Later in the evening of June 6th, a victim was boarding a bus at Divisadero and McAllister streets when thieves snatched her purse and fled the scene. They have yet to be apprehended.
