A fire appears to have broken out in an apartment building on the corner of Hayes and Octavia streets this evening, around 9:45pm.
[Update, 11pm: The fire appears to be out. We'll have more, most likely in the morning]
We were first alerted to the situation by a Periscope video recorded by Mike Vladimer, which shows at least three fire trucks and a growing crowd at the scene. Although no smoke could be seen coming out of the windows SFFD does appear to be treating this seriously, at one point even extending a ladder to the top floor.

Update, 7/8: A spokesperson from the SF Fire Department told us that the fire was reported by phone at approximately 9:45pm at 488 Hayes Street, a four-story commercial building. When crews arrived at the scene they reported visible flames on the ground floor. The fire was quickly contained, and deemed under control by 9:59pm. So far, there's no word on the cause or the damages incurred in the fire.
