A fire broke out at the Golden Eagle Hotel this afternoon at 402 Broadway between Montgomery and Rowland streets.
A spokesperson for the San Francisco Fire Department said the call came in at 3:21pm and the fire was under control by 3:49pm. When crews arrived, they saw light smoke and found a fire had started at the rear exterior of the building and may have spread to a wall.
One resident of the SRO was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. No cause has been determined.
Two neighbors told Hoodline that a resident dropped a cigarette out of the window in the same place a couple of weeks ago and started a separate fire on the hillside.
