It's been a busy week in Hayes Valley, with politicians and the press turning out in droves after news of the potential sale of Frederick D. Haynes Gardens hit the streets. The future of the affordable housing compound is still unknown, but it doesn't seem like it's going to be sold without a fight.

In restaurant news, we covered the highly-anticipated opening of Petit Crenn, the all-day cafe and prix-fixe restaurant moving in to the former Bar Jules space. Owner Dominique Crenn says the restaurant should open its doors on August 11th. 

We also profiled custom suit shop Klein Epstein & Parker, and provided an update on cat cafe KitTea, which has seen 17 adoptions since it opened just one month ago.

Friday, July 31st

Black Tot Day at Smugglers Cove

5pm, Smuggler's Cove, 650 Gough St.

Host Description: Join us as we toast to A Willing Foe for Black Tot day. What is Black Tot Day you ask? Black Tot Day (July 31, 1970) is the name given to the last day on which the Royal Navy issued sailors with a daily rum ration. We will celebrate this fine tradition with:

-A belt of vintage 1980s Pusser's Rum for the first 15 people through the door!
-Black Tot & British Royal Navy Imperial Rum on sale for $100 per oz all night! (reg. $130)

Saturday, August 1st

Intro To Screenprinting

Host Description: T-shirts, posters, cards, you name it -Rick has screened it! Join local artist Rick Kitagawa while he takes you through the steps of screen printing. Learn the various techniques and endless possibilities using the Jacquard printmaking products. He will also include some of his mixed media ideas using the printing process.
