This past week in North Beach, Hoodline took a look at the new SFPD district boundaries, a new multi-level Chinese food-centered retail and restaurant space on the border of Chinatown, an affordable housing project proposed for Broadway And Front and an interview with Sasha Grigorovich-Barsky of Citizen Chain.

Looking towards next week be sure to check out the National Lasagna Day Competition And Dinner at the Italian Athletic Club (1630 Stockton St.) for a North Beach-style family meal sponsored by the North Beach Neighbors organization.

Here's your rundown of local events, shows and activities for the weekend:

Saturday, July 18th

Cobb's Comedy Club: Actor and comedian Hal Sparks along with comedian John Fugelsang will be performing two sets, at 7:30pm and 9:45pm. (915 Columbus Ave.)

Johnathan Dely: The jazz composer will perform at Rose Pistola's at 9pm. (532 Columbus Ave.)

Native Elements Reggae Band: The SF-based 10 member ensemble performs at Pier 23 at 10pm.

Punch Line Comedy Club: Actor and comedian Greg Proops of Whose Line Is It Anyway? fame will perform two sets, at 7:30pm and 9:30pm.  (444 Battery St.)

Sail Aboard The Alma: Enjoy a three hour tour of the San Francisco Bay aboard the historic 60-foot schooner along with educational discussions from National Park Service. $40 for adults, $20 for children between 6-15 and free for kids under six years old. Tickets can be reserved here. (2905 Hyde St.)

The Self Proclaimed Heroes: Maggie McGarry's hosts the SF-based, five-piece cover band at 10pm. (1353 Grant Ace.)

Tom Freund: Doc's Lab will feature the Southern California troubadour, including an opening performance by indie rocker Jon Gunton, at 8pm. (124 Columbus Ave.)

Whisky Pills Fiasco: The SF-native rockabilly outfit performs at Tupelo at 9pm. (1337 Grant Ave.)

Sunday, July 26th

Cobb's Comedy Club: Actor and comedian Hal Sparks along with comedian John Fugelsang return for one final set at 7:30pm. 

Eric Markowitz Trio: The NJ-native bassist brings his ensemble to Rose Pistola's at 8pm. 

Evan Francis Group: Doc's Lab closes out the weekend with a free performance from the NY-based big band & funk ensemble at 5:30pm.

Freaky Deaky: The SF-based jam band plays a free show at Pier 23 at 5pm.

Full-Spectrum Science with Ron Hipschman: Between 11am-2pm the Exploratorium will showcase scientist Ron Hipschman describing the difference between heat and temperature in the physical world. The event is free with museum admission. (Pier 15)

Love Gangsters: The SF-based funk & jazz outfit performs at Tupelo at 9pm. 

Punch Line Comedy Club: The SF Comedy Showcase returns for its weekly 8pm performances for up-and-coming SF comedians. 

SF Mime Troupe in Washington Square Park: The San Francisco Mime Troupe, which "creates and produces socially relevant theater of the highest professional quality and performs it before the broadest possible audience" will perform Freedomland at Washington Square Park with music at 1:30pm and the show at 2pm. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
