SoMa Week: National Night Out, Street Food Festival, Underground Art And MorePhoto: Rebecca L / Twitter

Over the past few weeks, much of the focus in SoMa has been crime and safety, transportation and November's local election. Here's our events digest to let you know what's been happening in the neighborhood, and what to look forward in the days ahead.

Anyone looking to get to know their neighbors and police officers will want to stop by Southern Station's National Night Out celebration from 5-7pm on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Victoria Manalo Draves Park. Here's what you can expect from the family-focused event.

Western SoMa residents continue to worry about the neighborhood's homeless population, but the San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team and representatives from multiple police station assure neighbors that they are working together to bring entire encampments off the streets.

With November quickly approaching, we visited Wilma Pang — a candidate for District 3 supervisor — today to learn more about her position on neighborhood issues.

Finally, the long-awaited E-line debuts weekend service this Saturday, giving travelers a new option for navigating along the Embarcadero between Caltrain and Fisherman's Wharf.

Without further ado, here's what's in store for the weekend:
