Another Midday Death Reported In The CastroPhoto: Brian Ray / Hoodline

We received a tip from Andrew Gibbons that paramedics were trying to resuscitate an individual along Market Street near Beaux Dance Club & Bar today.

According to a witness, a man was walking on the sidewalk sometime after 12pm and fell suddenly to the ground. An ambulance arrived and paramedics attempted to revive him, but were unable to do so.

By the time Hoodline arrived, the body had been transported and only a couple police cars and a medical examiner vehicle were present.

We spoke with employees in both Worn Out West 2nd Generation and Simply Brilliant Press. Both gave similar accounts, and told us that paramedics tried for close to 30 minutes to resuscitate the individual.

No word on an identification of the man yet, but we will update if we hear more from the SFPD and Medical Examiner's Office.

This is the second death in the neighborhood we have reported in two weeks. Last week, a homeless man died on 18th Street near Noe Street. So far, the Medical Examiner's Office has not gotten back to us with an identification of the deceased.

Update, 1/19/16: The BAR reports that the man, Thomas Smallwood, 75, was found to have died of hypertensive heart disease.
