In case you were busy this week and missed a few of the stories we covered in the Castro, here's a roundup of what we learned.

Earlier this week, we wrote that longtime Castro resident Louis Biedak, better known as Lulu, is being been evicted from his apartment and is seeking community support.

We also gave you an update on Phase 2 of the Dolores Park renovation. The good news is that the project is on schedule for an early 2016 opening.

We checked in with Hamburger Mary's at The Patio. While there is still no projected opening date, Hamburger Mary's corporate HQ let us know that they are still moving forward with the restaurant.

And finally, we introduced you to the Castro Ambassadors Program and its local volunteers.

If you're not too busy doing some last minute packing for Burning Man or you've got some free time this weekend, here are few suggestions of things going on around the Castro.

Friday, August 28th

Sing-Along 'The Little Mermaid'
Friday, 7pm; Saturday 1pm, 5pm and 8pm; Sunday 2pm.

Host Description: This interactive presentation of Disney’s classic has been customized with on-screen lyrics for all the songs so that audiences can sing along! Your hosts will introduce each performance and warm up the audiences’ vocal chords. In addition to belting out the tunes, goody bags will be handed out to everyone and audience members can add to the fun by dressing up as a favorite character from the film! Sunday, August 30th

The Crowd w/ Live Wurlitzer Accompaniment by Bruce Loeb

Host Description: The film mixes striking visual styles and a moving camera, influenced by 1920s German cinema and F.W Murnau in particular, with intense, intimate scenes of the family's poignant struggle. Vidor avoided casting big-name stars in the film to attain greater authenticity. Bruce Loeb has been playing piano accompaniments for silent films at the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum and the Pacific Film Archive. Bruce has studied at the Royal Dutch Conservatory and The Rubin Academy in Jerusalem. He lives in Berkeley where he is active as a piano teacher, vocal coach and accompanist. (Castro Theatre, 429 Castro)
